Pocket Tyrant

About Pocket Tyrant

Pocket Tyrant invites you to lead a small goblin warlord and his growing horde across a series of islands in a simple yet engaging action-strategy experience. Using a single joystick, players guide their army to gather resources like wood, ore, and treasure by moving through the environment. As you collect materials, you can recruit more goblins, upgrade weapons and tools, and build structures to strengthen your forces. The goal is to conquer 27 kingdoms spread across seven colorful islands, culminating in a confrontation with the imposing Black Citadel.

Combat in Pocket Tyrant is straightforward and visible at a glance: your army’s strength is shown as a number that decreases with each battle, allowing you to decide when to attack or when to retreat and regroup. There are no complex menus or buttons during fights—simply walk into enemy settlements to engage automatically, making it easy to focus on strategy and timing rather than micromanagement. The game encourages players to balance risk and preparation, choosing whether to attack strongholds immediately or build up their resources and troops first.

With its pastel-themed villages transformed into goblin outposts and smooth controls adaptable to keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen, Pocket Tyrant offers an accessible approach to conquest strategy. Progress is saved permanently, so you can take time to develop your warband before moving forward. After completing the main campaign, players can revisit the Black Citadel for repeat challenges that affect their leaderboard standings. This blend of resource management, tactical decision-making, and continuous growth makes Pocket Tyrant a unique and approachable title in the single-player strategy genre.

How to Play

Move with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys. With a mouse, click and drag; on a touchscreen, press and drag anywhere to steer. Walk into trees, rocks, ore, and treasure to collect resources. Stand on camp pads to recruit goblins, improve equipment, unlock permanent upgrades, and build crossings. Enter a settlement to fight automatically; compare your warband number with the garrison number before attacking. If the enemy is too strong, retreat, gather more resources, and return—permanent progress is never lost. Conquer all 27 kingdoms across seven islands, then defeat the Black Citadel to complete the campaign. After the first victory, the Citadel returns for repeat battles that increase your Infamy leaderboard score.
