Escape the Monster challenges you to navigate a series of increasingly complex mazes deep within a monster’s lair. Starting at the bottom of a fifty-floor labyrinth, your goal is to find the exit on each level and reach the surface without losing all your lives. As you explore, you’ll contend with four different types of monsters, each with unique behaviors—from chasing you relentlessly to ambushing from the shadows or even passing through walls. The longer you take on a floor, the faster the monster moves, encouraging quick thinking and careful movement.

Visibility and sound play important roles as well. Some floors are dark, making it impossible to see the monsters as they approach; you must rely on audio cues to survive. Along the way, collect gems scattered throughout the maze, which allow you to purchase helpful items like cloaks, lanterns, and masks. Wearing a mask gives you a chance to stun the next monster that contacts you instead of losing a life, offering a strategic edge.

Certain floors include locked exits that require finding a hidden crown first, adding an extra layer of exploration. Every tenth floor is a safe level where there are no monsters, giving you a chance to regroup and spend your gems on upgrades or extra hearts. After clearing all fifty floors, you successfully escape the lair, but an Endless mode unlocks to challenge your skills further by continuing the maze’s depth indefinitely. The game combines elements of maze navigation and survival, requiring quick reflexes and careful planning as you attempt to outwit the monsters and reach safety.

How to Play

Reach the green door on each floor before the monster catches you. You have three hearts. Every floor you clear takes you one closer to the surface, and every ten floors is a safe floor with no monster on it.

The monster speeds up the longer you stay, so keep moving. Gems you collect buy hearts on the safe floors and unlock new looks between runs. Some floors lock the exit until you find the crown. Some give you a mask that will stun the next monster that touches you instead of costing you a heart.

Clear all fifty floors to escape into the garden. Endless mode unlocks after floor nine and runs forever. Can you climb the leaderboard?
